Asylum Trends December 2016: Total influx of asylum seekers 2016 31.600
The total influx of asylum seekers (first asylum applications, repeated asylum applications and family members of asylum status holders) amounted in 2016 to about 31.600. This influx was almost half lower than in the peak year 2015 (about 58.900).

34% of the total influx of asylum seekers in 2016 is formed by persons with Syrian nationality, followed by Eritreans (9%) and Albanians (5%). Said first and second place are relative to 2015 unchanged. Third place  in 2015 was taken by Iraqis.

 

Asylum Trends November 2016: Rise in family reunification
The total influx of asylum seekers (first asylum applications, repeated asylum applications and family members of asylum status holders) in November was 4.022, an increase of approximately 11% compared to the previous month (in October: 3.634). Although the number of first asylum applications the IND received in November (1.731) declined compared to the previous month (in October: 1.936), the number of family members of asylum status holders has risen sharply (2.132 resp. 1.550). This increase is mainly due to people of Syrian nationality.

Asylum Trends September 2016: Influx of asylum seekers increased for family reunification in September
The total influx of asylum seekers was 3,162 in September, that is about 24% higher than the previous month (August 2016: 2,505).

Compared to September 2015 (8,594) the total number of applications are now almost 3 times lower. In September 2016 the IND received 1,807 first asylum applications, 129 repeated requests and 1,226 application for family reunification.

Asylum Trends August 2016: Influx of asylum seekers slightly increased in August

The total influx of asylum seekers was 2,546 in August, the flow increased slightly with 13% higher than the previous month (July 2016: 2,260).
Compared to the total number of asylum seekers that came to the Netherlands in August 2015 (7,080), the level of influx is a little over a third has of that.

Asylum Trends july 2016: Total monthly influx of asylum seekers in July over two thousand

The total influx of asylum seekers was 2,260 in July, the flow increased more than 38% higher than the previous month (June 2016: 1,636).
This number in July relate to 1,425 first asylum applications, 173 repeated requests and 662 application for family reunification.

 Asylum Trends June 2016: Influx of asylum in June slightly increases compared to May

The total influx of asylum seekers was 1639 in June. Thus, the inflow increased slightly compared to the previous month (May 2016: 1,569). The 1,639 asylum applications in June relate to 1,020 first asylum applications, 157 repeated requests and 462 applications for family reunification.

Asylum Trends May 2016: Influx of asylum seekers stabilizes in May

The total inflow of asylum seekers in May 2016 (1,576) increased compared to April 2016 (1,459). Compared to May last year (3,368) the total number of asylum seekers coming to the Netherlands has decreased more than 50 percent.

Asylum Trends April 2016: Fall influx of asylum seekers continues in April

The total inflow of asylum seekers in April 2016 (1.473) decreased compared to March 2016 (1784). Compared to April last year (1892) the total number of asylum seekers coming to the Netherlands is slightly lower.

Asylum Trends March 2016: Fall influx of asylum seekers continues in March

The total influx of asylum seekers in March 2016 (1.798) decreased compared to February 2016 (2591). Compared to March last year (1547) the number of asylum seekers is 16% higher. 

Asylum Trends February 2016: Asylum influx in February lower than in January, but high compared to the same period last year

The total inflow of asylum seekers in February 2016 decreased compared to January 2016. This number is almost 70% more than a year ago in February 2015.

Asylum Trends January 2016: Asielinstroom in januari lager dan in december, maar hoog vergeleken met dezelfde periode vorig jaar

The total inflow of asylum seekers in January 2016 decreased compared to December 2015. This number is almost twice as much as a year ago in 2015.
