At the IND, you are not just an IT staff member. You are a specialist who works for the Netherlands as a whole. What is more: you work for the world. You do this by helping us with modern solutions and data-driven services. For example for people applying for asylum in The Neteherlands or people who want to come here as an expat or student.
Which foreign nationals have a future in the Netherlands? And who must return to their country of origin? When a third-country national challenges a decision on their residence, then you represent the Minister for Migration and the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the court and at the Council of State.
Migration is about people. People who ask for protection, want to study here or offer their skills. Others want to work in the Netherlands, live here with their family or acquire Dutch citizenship. Migration cases like this require well-considered decisions. Would you like a meaningful role in deciding these cases?
Are you a student looking for an internship, or do you need assistance with your graduation project? Maybe we can help! We offer internships as well as guidance with graduation research. We know better than anyone how valuable a fresh, outside perspective can be.
Marco initially started working at the IND as a self-employed person, but he quickly felt at home and realised that he wanted to stay. He enjoys the organisation’s dynamic social context and the challenges that come with it. Now on the permanent staff as an information analyst, his daily work revolves around translating complicated processes into smart IT solutions. ‘Think of me as a bridge between the people doing the work and the people building the software. I help both sides understand each other.’
Frank has been with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) for 25 years. Although he calls himself a ‘true INDinosaur’, he’s not set in his ways. Over the course of his career, his willingness to try new things has led him to take on various roles at the IND. Today, Frank works as a relationship manager. He’s also the point of contact for recognised sponsors, such as universities and large corporations. ‘Once you’ve established a good relationship, it’s easier for people to approach you.’
If you talk to Kiki, you won’t hear wild stories about courtroom drama or media storms. Her work begins after a judge has made a decision and the dust begins to settle. She processes court rulings, sends out forms that allow people to claim legal expenses, and closes procedures in INDiGO, the IND’s computer system. As a member of the Legal Affairs support team, she pays attention to detail. ‘I know it sounds like a lot of paperwork, but a case can’t be closed until we complete these steps.’
