Asylum
Every year, many people apply for asylum in the Netherlands because they are not safe in their own country. We assess these applications. When we do this, we always look at someone’s personal story.
Our work areas
At the IND, we decide on all applications by everyone who would like to live in the Netherlands. They may be applying for asylum or want to be here for family, to work or study in the Netherlands. And we are there for everyone who has already been living here from some time and would like to apply for Dutch citizenship.
What we do
Economy
The Netherlands wants to clear the way for international talent. At the IND we therefore consider every application from people wishing to come here to work or study.
Naturalisation
Some people who have been living in the Netherlands for a long time feel Dutch. They can apply for Dutch nationality. Every year, we assess tens of thousands of these applications.
Family
Every year, many people apply for a partner, child, or other family member to come to the Netherlands. We assess whether these relatives are allowed to stay in the Netherlands.
