Applying for MVV visa sticker temporarily not mandatory for Russians in the Netherlands
Are you Russian? And have you applied for a an MVV (entry visa) outside of the Netherlands? Or has your sponsor applied for you in the Netherlands? You temporarily do not have to apply for an MVV visa sticker from the Dutch embassy in Russia, if you meet these requirements:
- You have received a positive decision on your MVV application.
- You are in the Netherlands on a short-stay visa.
- You cannot or do not want to travel back to Russia because of the situation in that country.
Make an appointment at an IND-desk
Do these requirements apply to you? You can then call us to make an appointment at an IND desk. During the appointment, an IND staff member will check your documents. They will also take your biometric details (photo, fingerprints and signature). We use these to create your residence document.

- the letter stating that you are getting a residence permit (kennisgeving)
- the original documents mentioned in this letter
- your passport
Applying for MVV visa sticker in country other than Russia
Are you Russian and are you outside of the Netherlands and not in Russia? And have you received a positive decision on your MVV (entry visa) application? You may be able to apply for an MVV visa sticker at a Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you are staying. Please call your contact person at the IND if you want to change the embassy. You can find the phone number in the letter from the IND stating that you will receive an MVV.
Applying for an MVV in the country where you are staying
You can potentially apply for an MVV at the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you are staying. Use the website of Netherlands Worldwide to enter the country where you are staying. By doing this, you can see at which Dutch embassy or consulate you can start the mvv application. Then make an appointment to submit your mvv application.
