Asylum influx in July 2022

In July 2022, the total influx of asylum seekers (the total number of first and repeat applications and family reunifications) was 4,376. This is an increase compared to the previous month: in June, it was 3,979.

First asylum applications

The number of first asylum applications in July was 2,641. In June, it was 2,462. These are the top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted a first asylum application: Syria (1,047), Afghanistan (301), Turkey (252), Yemen (184) and Eritrea (131).

Of the 301 first applications mentioned for the country of origin Afghanistan, 250 applications were submitted by people who were brought to the Netherlands from Afghanistan.

Repeat asylum applications

The number of repeat asylum applications in July was 125. In June, it was 124. These are the top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted a repeat asylum application: Iran (20), Syria (15), Iraq (14), Eritrea (9) and Pakistan (9).

Asylum family reunification

The number of people arriving for asylum family reunification in July was 1,610. In June, it was 1,393. These are the top 5 countries of origin of people arriving for asylum family reunification: Syria (1,057), Turkey (286), Yemen (76), Eritrea (51) and stateless (21).

Unaccompanied minors

The number of asylum applications submitted by unaccompanied minors (AMVs) was 449 in July. In June, it was 284. These are the top 5 countries of origin of AMVs:
Syria (243), Eritrea (98), Somalia (23), Yemen (19) and Afghanistan (12).
