In April 2022, the influx of asylum seekers (the total number of first and repeat applications and family reunifications) was 3,230. This is a decrease compared to the preceding month: in March, it was 4,202.

First asylum applications

The number of first asylum applications in April was 2,234. In march, the number was 2,921. These are the top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted a first asylum application: Syria (579), Afghanistan (299), Turkey (207), Yemen (183) and Eritrea (88).

Russian invasion of Ukraine
With 68 asylum applications, the Russian Federation is 7th of the top 10 countries of first asylum applications. In March, there were 83 applications.

Transfer from Afghanistan
Of the 299 first applications mentioned for the country of origin Afghanistan, 211 applications were submitted by people who were brought to the Netherlands from Afghanistan.

Repeat asylum applications
