IND employees did not commit fraud
Employees of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service did not commit fraud when granting residence permits. This is according to research commissioned by the Ministry of Justice and Security.
The Integrity Bureau of the Judicial Institutions Department, which conducted the investigation, concluded that although one employee made mistakes, there were no indications of fraud. The bureau found no irregularities in the work of other employees. The investigation was a follow-up to an internal IND investigation and an investigation by the Justice and Security Integrity Commission.
Rhodia Maas, director-general of the IND: 'I find it reassuring that there appears to have been no fraud. The fact that mistakes were made is not good, of course. However, it is important to keep realising that our work is human work. Mistakes do happen. However much we try to prevent them, we will never be able to eliminate them completely'.
