As from January 1, highly skilled migrants can go to the municipal office in Goes to arrange everything for their stay in Zeeland. In a one-stop shop they and their families can register at once with one of the local councils in Zeeland. They will receive a Citizen Service Number (in Dutch: burgerservicenummer or BSN), pick up their residence document and receive practical information about working in the region. This is possible because Expat Center Zeeland, the local councils in Zeeland and the IND have joined forces. In addition to highly skilled migrants, other migrants from the region can also make use of the IND service point at the town hall in Goes.
The one-stop shop is a three-year pilot programme during which Expat Center Zeeland, the local councils in Zeeland and the IND combine their services. This makes it possible for clients to take all necessary steps at one location: the Town Hall in Goes. It makes Zeeland an attractive location for highly skilled migrants and their families to settle . Also, it gives employers who are recognised sponsors the advantage of having highly skilled migrants join their company or organisation very quickly. This has a positive impact on the regional economy. The parties are using the pilot period to find out whether this form of cooperation is having the intended positive impact on services and on improving the climate for attracting highly skilled talent.
Besides highly skilled migrants and their families , other migrants who wish to stay in the Netherlands can also go to this IND service point. For example if you come for work (labour migrant), education or residency with a partner, The IND service point offers limited services, such as collecting a residence document, taking biometric data, and obtaining a residence endorsement sticker or a return visa. In addition, foreign nationals can obtain general information about the Dutch policy for foreign nationals.
With the arrival of the IND desk (service point noemen is meer consistent?), the regional services by the town hall in Goes will be expanded further. For people from the region, there isalready a desk for the registration in the Non-Residents Records (in Dutch: Registratie Niet-Ingezetenen or RNI), the Social Insurance Bank (in Dutch: Sociale Verzekeringsbank or SVB) and the Education Executive Agency (in Dutch: Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs or DUO).
