Asylum influx in July 2021

​The asylum influx as a whole has increased again. In July, the total asylum influx (the total of first and repeat applications and people arriving for family reunification) was 3,347. This is a considerable rise compared to the previous month. In June, the total asylum influx was 2,470.

First asylum applications

The number of first asylum applications in July was 2,128. In June, it was 1.487. The top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted a first asylum application are: Syria (626), Turkey (573), Afghanistan (110), unknown (85) and Morocco (81).

Repeat asylum applications

The number of repeat asylum applications in July was 148. In June, it was 106. The top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who filed a repeat asylum application are: Iran (31), Afghanistan (19), Sri Lanka (15), Iraq en Syria (8) and Algeria (7).

Asylum family reunification

The number of people arriving for asylum family reunification in July was 1,071. In June, this number was 877. The top 5 countries of people arriving for family reunification are: Syria (674), Turkey (101), Eritrea (79), stateless (44) and Yemen (40).

Unaccompanied minors

The number of asylum applications filed by unaccompanied minors (UAMs) was 159 in July. In June, it was 135. The top 5 countries of origin of UAMs are: Syria (56), Eritrea (30), Morocco (15), and Somalia (14) and Afghanistan (10).
