Becoming a Dutch national with a RANOV-permit

Last update: 29 December 2022

The RANOV permit was intended for foreign nationals who fell under the 2007 general amnesty (the Regulation on Settlement of the Legacy of the Old Aliens Act, RANOV). There are requirements to become a Dutch national through naturalisation or option, which also apply to RANOV permit holders. As of 1 November 2021, RANOV-permit holders are exempted from the document requirement, when applying for naturalisation or option.
