The new Civic Integration Act has been postponed. At present, Minister Wouter Koolmees (Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment) considers it irresponsible to allow the new civic integration system to enter into force on 1 July 2021. He is now heading towards 1 January 2022 but keeps his options open.
The Minister received signals that the planned date of introduction entails risks, partly due to the corona crisis. The Minister takes the signals 'very seriously' and has therefore concluded that the entry into force of the new civic integration system on 1 July 2021 does not appear justified. Koolmees aims to introduce the Civic Integration Act as of 1 January 2022, meaning that the current Civic Integration Act remains in force until the introduction of the new law.
