IND improves services with reorganisation of its desks

Last update: 17 August 2020

The IND will continue to improve organisation of its service provision by faster information provision via the digital channel (IND.nl) as well as by providing services closer to the customer, such as collecting the biometric data for residence documents and issuing those documents in, for example, expat centres, universities and at COA locations.

For this reason, in 2019, it was decided to close some of the IND desks and to serve customers better at local level. For certain services that require customer contact and for customers who are less self-reliant, part of the IND desks will remain open and cooperation with municipalities will be sought.

Eindhoven

In the nearest future, the IND desk in Eindhoven will be closed on 30 September 2020. As from October, customers of this desk can go to the IND desks in Den Bosch. For expats in Eindhoven area, the Expat centre Eindhoven (Holland Expat Centre South) will remain available. An IND service point in Maastricht has been set up at the Expat Centre Maastricht Region for customers who live in (South) Limburg.

Increase in the amount of work

The IND desks in Rotterdam and Utrecht will also close their doors before 2023 at the latest. The IND desks in The Hague, Amsterdam, Den Bosch and Zwolle will remain open. With the reorganisation of the IND desks, there will be no cuts in staff, because the deskwork is not expected to decrease. This is partly due to an increase in the number of students and international knowledge workers.

Expansion after corona measures

In addition to reorganisation of the desks, after a partial closure as a result of the corona measures, the IND continues to expand its services to customers. Desks are now almost fully open again, corona proof of course and with longer opening hours.
