Further clarification on the IND’s limited services to follow

Last update: 18 March 2020

As a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus, services at the IND desks are limited to urgent matters such as extending a visa. At the same time, the Netherlands is limiting global consular services. This may also affect IND clients.

Limited IND services

As a result of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, IND services are limited to urgent matters. Further information regarding what the IND considers to be urgent matters will follow as soon as possible. The same applies to further information about extending the period you are permitted to stay in the Netherlands without having a visa (visa-exempt term): this can only be extended in urgent cases. Are you waiting for a decision regarding your application for a residence permit? The usual conditions apply. Similarly we will inform you further regarding for which matters you can make an appointment at an IND desk.

Limited consular services

The Netherlands has decided to drastically limit the provision of services at consulates overseas. These measures also have consequences for IND clients.

Due to the limited consular services, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs around the world will temporarily no longer issue visas, passports or Regular Provisional Residence Permits (mvvs). It has also been decided for the time being to stop interviews and DNA sampling for journeys in connection with family reunification with asylum seekers.
