Scam phone call alert

The IND alerts customers to 'spoofing': (attempted) telephone scams. Lately, cases were observed in which persons pretended on the telephone to be IND employees but were, in fact, out for their victims' money.

To harm clients, frauds abuse the IND's Client Information Centre (KIC) number, +31 88 043 0430. This so-called spoofing causes this number to display on the receiver's screen. Because of this, it seems as if you have an IND employee on the phone. In reality, however, you are speaking to a fraud.

What can you do?

As a customer of the IND, be vigilant of scam phone calls. The IND never makes calls showing the KIC number on your display. Also, our employees never call to ask for money transfers. You can only pay invoices of the IND either at the counter or when you receive a letter from us. This letter states the familiar account number (NL31INGB0705005356 in the name of Min. van Justitie en Veiligheid 601/ IND LEGES Storting Bank). Moreover, our staff will not approach you on the phone in a coercive, aggressive tone.

Have you become the victim of a phone scam?

Do you have any doubts about the intention of a person posing as an IND employee on the phone? In that case, please get in touch with us on +31 88 043 0430. We will then register your notification. If you are a victim of an (attempted) telephone scam, you can report this to the police. The IND is also considering reporting spoofing.
