Biometrics when applying for permanent residency after Brexit

Are you 23 years old or younger? Then you have to make an appointment at an IND desk.

The IND takes a digital passport photo and sometimes takes your fingerprints. You choose which location to go to. Providing biometrics is free. 
 

Suitable clothing for passport photo

We kindly ask you not to wear all-white or light grey clothing. The passport photo will be taken against a light grey background. If you also wear light clothing yourself, the photo may fail. You are allowed to keep your head covered for religious or philosophical reasons.

What to bring to your appointment

Bring the following documents to your appointment:

• Your valid passport.
• Your appointment code. This code is in the email your receive when you have made the appointment.
• Your (expired) residence document. Have you lost your residence document? Or has the document been stolen? Then bring the official report (in Dutch: proces-verbaal) you received when you reported the loss or theft to the police.
   

Reschedule or cancel appointment

Have you made an appointment, but are you unable to come? It is not possible to reschedule your appointment. There is a link in the email with the appointment confirmation. Click on the link and cancel your appointment. Then make a new appointment. 

Have you made an appointment for several people? You can only cancel the entire appointment. And not just for 1 person.

Are you 24 years or older? Then send your passport photo to the IND using the Appendix Passport photo form. The passport photo needs to be taken by a professional photographer. Read more about the requirements for the passport photo.

Family appointment

Do you have 1 or more family members age 23 or younger who need to make a biometrics appointment? Then you may accompany them to the IND desk and also provide your biometric data. In that case, make 1 appointment for your family. You do not need to send a passport photo form.
