You are coming to the Netherlands for a medical treatment. One of the conditions for this permit is that you have an income. On this page you read the income requirements.
The income requirements are:
The requirements are now explained further.
An independent income is an income that you earn yourself and for which you have paid taxes and social security contributions. Read if you income is independent.
Your income is sustainable when you receive it for a longer period, for example, still another 12 months. Read the page When is my income sustainable? for more information on the sustainability of your income.
The amount you have to earn, is called the required amount. The required amount equals 70% of the statutory minimum wage when you are single or a single parent. Or equal to the minimum wage when you come to the Netherlands with your partner. The statutory minimum wage and the required amount change every 6 months, on 1 January and 1 July. Check the required amount for you. And read how the required amount is calculated for your income.
You can, for example, add up income from different employers. Or a salary in paid employment and profit from your own company. Each income should, however, meet the requirements for that income. All incomes together should at least equal the required amount.
Do you not have an income yourself? Or is your income not high enough? Then a person in the Netherlands may pay your stay for medical treatment. This person is your sponsor.
The same income requirements apply to your sponsor, but the required amount is higher. Your sponsor should have sufficient income for his own family situation plus 90% of the minimum wage when you are single or a single parent. Or sufficient income for his own family situation plus the minimum wage when you come to the Netherlands with your partner. Check the required amount that applies to your sponsor.
Does your sponsor live together with a partner? And does his partner have the Dutch nationality or a Dutch residence permit? Then your sponsor can show the income together with his partner. Both their incomes should meet the requirements. This means both need to be independent and sustainable. To meet the required amount they can add up the independent and sustainable incomes.
