Documents for your asylum application
Important documents for your asylum application
For the decision on your asylum application, it is necessary for the IND to know who you are and why you are applying for asylum. You can prove this with original documents.
With these documents, the IND can assess your asylum application:
- Documents proving who you are (your identity) and where you come from (your origin). For example, your passport.
- Documents proving the reasons for your application (your asylum story). For example, an arrest warrant.
- Other important documents that you can also submit include:
- a driving license
- a family booklet
- an UNWRA registration
- a birth certificate
Submit these documents when you apply for asylum. Did you apply for asylum on or after 12 June? Then you provide the documents during the Reception and Preparation for Asylum Application (OVA). This way, the IND has your documents right from the start of your asylum procedure.
Do you want to submit documents after you have applied for asylum? Do this as soon as possible. This allows the IND to examine them and include them in the assessment.
Do you want to submit copies of documents? Your lawyer can submit these via the Solicitor Portal.
