Demonstrate sufficient financial means by student

Do you wish to study in the Netherlands? You need to have sufficient financial means to fund your studies and to live in the Netherlands during your studies.

The amount you need is the standard amount for students living away from home as set out in the Student Finance Act 2000. This standard amount is excluding tuition fees and fees for the application procedure.

Your educational institution will check each year if you have sufficient funds. The educational institution will ask you to fill in the form Appendix 'Foreign national’s own statement: income within the context of a study'

How do I demonstrate that I have sufficient financial means?

There are various ways to prove that you have sufficient financial means to study and live in the Netherlands. You demonstrate this on the basis of documents. These documents must be drawn up in Dutch, English, German or French. The educational institution has to keep all records. Do you have a bank statement or an account statement that shows foreign currency? Your educational institution has to keep the conversion to euros as part of the records as well.

Money in your own bank account
