IND withdraws recognised sponsorship of Avans+

Last update:

The IND has withdrawn the recognition of Avans Hogeschool B.V. The withdrawal has consequences for international students who are enrolled in the HBO nursing programme.

The reason for withdrawing the recognition as a sponsor is the decision of the National Commission for the Code of Conduct for Higher Education to remove the university from their register. An educational institution must be recognised as a sponsor in order to be able to apply for residence permits for foreign students from outside the EU.

International students enrolled in the nursing programme will have until 1 December 2025 to meet the requirements of their residence permit, or to apply for a different purpose of residence. As a gesture of goodwill, the IND is offering the students more time than the standard search period of 3 months.

The students will receive a letter from the IND stating the consequences of the withdrawal for them. In addition, the IND is organising an information meeting together with UWV.
