Residence permits of the RANOV permit holders expire: Apply for an extension or for a permanent residence permit?

In June 2018, the residence permit for ‘voortgezet verblijf na verblijf op grond van speciale regeling 2007’ will expire for foreign nationals who fell under the pardon scheme (Regulation for the Settlement of the Legacy of the Former Aliens Act RANOV). This news item provides more information about the follow-up applications.

What are the possibilities?
Do you have a residence permit for ''voortgezet verblijf na verblijf op grond van speciale regeling 2007'? Then, you need to apply for renewal shortly. You may  also apply for a permanent residence permit.

Application for a permanent residence permit
In order to qualify for a permanent residence permit, you must have fulfilled the integration requirement. This means that you must have obtained the civic integration diploma. The Education Executive Agency (DUO) provides more detailed information about obtaining the civic integration diploma on www.inburgeren.nl/en.

You also qualify for a permanent residence permit, if you have been granted an exemption from the integration requirement. The State Examination diploma for Dutch as a second language I or II (NT2) or the level 1 Secondary Vocational Education (MBO) diploma do not constitute a ground for an exemption from the civic integration requirement.

When do I qualify for a permanent residence permit with the status long-term resident EC?
In order to qualify for a permanent residence permit with the status long-term resident EC, you must have fulfilled the civic integration requirement. In addition, you must have sufficient, independent and sustainable income. 

How do I apply for a permanent resident permit and what are the costs?
You can apply digitally. The application for a permanent residence permit (with or without the status of long-term residents EC) costs €161.

Extension of residence permit for 'continued residence (non-temporary humanitarian grounds)'
If you do not meet the civic integration requirement, then you can submit an application for an extension of your current residence permit.

How do I apply for an extension and what are the costs?
You can apply digitally. The application for an extension costs €401.
Please, do not submit the application earlier than 3 months before the current residence permit expires.
