Influx of asylum seekers in June 2021

​In June, the influx of asylum seekers, composed of the total of first and repeated applications for asylum and dependents [joining family members of asylum seekers], was 2,468. This represents an increase compared to the previous month. In May, the total influx of asylum seekers was 1,914.

First asylum applications

The number of first asylum applications in June was 1,488. In May, this was 951. The top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who filed a first asylum application are Syria 454), Turkey (253), Afghanistan (99), Eritrea (85) and Morocco (78).

Repeated asylum applications

The number of repeated asylum applications in June was 112. In May, this was 134. The top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted a repeated asylum application are Iran (17), Eritrea en Morocco(9), Algeria, Belarus and Iraq (7), Egypt (6) and Nigeria (5).

Joining family members

The number of entering persons seeking family reunification in June was 868. In May, that number was 829. The top 5 countries persons seeking family reunification originate from are Syria (583), Eritrea (71), Yemen (54), Turkey (39) and Iraq (31).

UMA

The number of applications for asylum from unaccompanied minor aliens (UMAs) in June was 149. In May, this was 89. The top 5 countries of origin of UMAs are Eritrea (51), Syria (39), Algeria (14), Morocco (13) en Somalia (10.
