The number of first asylum applications in May was 1,627. This is a decrease compared to April (1,867). The top 5 countries from which most first asylum applications come were Nigeria (237), Syria (195), Iran (142), Turkey (88) and Morocco (73).
Repeat asylum applications and family reunification
The number of repeat asylum applications in May was 275. This is an increase compared to April (254). The top 5 countries of origin for asylum seekers submitting a repeat asylum application were Afghanistan (41), Iran (31), Iraq (25), Libya (16) and Syria (15).
The number of people entering the Netherlands in the month of May for family reunification saw an increase compared to the month of April, namely 250 compared to 214. The top 5 countries from which most people came for family reunification were: Eritrea (107), Syria (76), Afghanistan (15), Iraq (10) and Yemen (10).
Unaccompanied minor asylum seekers
The number of asylum applications submitted by unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (AMVs) was 61. This is a decrease compared to April (82). The top 3 countries of original are Syria (12), sharing second place Eritrea, Morocco and Gambia (8), and Iraq (5).
