Asylum influx in March 2019

​In March 2019, the total asylum influx (the total of first and repeat applications and entries in the context of family reunification) was 2,426. In February the total influx was 2,280.

First applications
The number of first asylum applications in March was 1,881. In the month of February this was 1,661. The top 5 of countries from which most applicants originated is: Syria (211), Nigeria (205), Moldova (179), Iran (151) and Algeria (109).

Repeat asylum applications and family reunification
The number of persons filing a repeat asylum application in March was 314. This is a rise compared to February (278). The top 5 of countries of origin of asylum seekers who filed a repeat asylum application is: Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and Albania. 

The number of family reunifications, i.e. the number of family members of persons who have been granted a temporary asylum residence permit in the Netherlands, shows a decrease compared to the month of February, namely 231 compared to 341.  

Unaccompanied minors
The number of asylum applications filed by unaccompanied minors (UAMs) was 87 in March and has therefore remained almost equal to that in the month of February (89). The top 3 of countries of origin is: Syria, Morocco and Algeria.
