Asylum influx in February 2019

​In February 2019 the total asylum influx (the total number of first and repeated asylum applications as well as persons travelling for family reunification purposes) was 2,288. In January the total influx was 2,410.

First asylum applications
The total number of first asylum applications in February was 1,664. In January that number was 1,844. The top 5 countries where most first asylum applications came from were  Iran (164), Syria (160), Nigeria (158), Turkey (102) and Algeria (98). 

Repeat asylum applications and persons travelling for family reunification purposes
There were 283 repeat asylum applications in February. This is a slight decrease compared to January (298). The top 5 countries of origin of asylum seekers who submitted repeat applications are Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria and Algeria.

The number of persons entering the Netherlands in February for family reunification purposes showed a rise with respect to January, namely 341 compared to 268.

UAMs
The number of asylum applications submitted by unaccompanied minors (UAMs) was 103, a decrease compared to January (126). The Top 3 countries of origin are Eritrea, Morocco and Iraq.
