Assessment of asylum applications by LGBTIs and converts in the House of Representatives

Today Minister Mark Harbers will inform the House of Representatives about the motion by Groothuizen.

In the past months, this motion on the assessment of the credibility of converts and LGBTIs was the subject of discussion and investigation.

Listening to interest groups, sharing expertise in IND staff meetings, and hiring experts have resulted in a new policy. Staff members will receive additional and more intensive training, IND has experts to turn to with questions, and third-party statements will be included explicitly in the assessment.

The IND is happy with the outcome and thinks that this will allow it to assess applications with even more care.
