Reports of phishing e-mails scam

Last update: 28 April 2020

The IND has recently received reports about phishing e-mails.

In a phishing e-mail, people pretending to be staff from the Immigration and Naturalisation Service have asked for personal information, or for money to be transferred, for example further to a successful job application.

How can you recognise a phishing e-mail?
These e-mails often include a request to click on a link to check, edit or complete your personal details, or to transfer money to a certain bank account. The IND will never ask for personal details in an e-mail or make a request in an e-mail to transfer money. The IND will also never ask someone to provide personal details by replying to an e-mail.

What can you do?
If you are subject to this sort of scam, we would advise you to make a statement to the police. If in doubt, please call the IND information line on +31 (0)88 043 0430.
