Working for the state means working on matters that concern the entire country. The Ministry of Justice defends and protects the rule of law, from policy to implementation. The Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) decides who is admitted to the Netherlands and who is granted Dutch citizenship. In doing so, the IND fulfils an important task. We ensure that aliens policy is adhered to. It is fascinating work, as there are many sides to each story and decisions have far-reaching consequences. It is therefore important that employees of the IND are very customer-focussed and possess a high degree of flexibility and thoroughness. All cases we handle concern matters that have a direct influence on our daily lives, and this is what makes working for the IND so special, because justice affects people.
